FAQs

There are a few common problems that members sometimes encounter when entering.
If you’re having problems, make sure you have downloaded AND installed the SeduCity client.
If you’re having problems, try these remedies first:

Problem: You try to log on but you keep getting one of two error messages:
1. "Sorry, your version of the Seducity software is not supported by this server".
2. You are asked to download the software again and again.
Remedy: Download the 4.0 client software.

Problem: The first time you try to enter the system doesn’t recognize your account ID or password
Remedy: Open your browser, if it is Internet Explorer, go to the Tools menu at the top of the page, select Internet Options from the drop-down menu and then under Temporary Internet files, delete all files. You may want to reboot your computer and then enter SeduCity.

Problem: You get a full or half black screen when you try to enter, or may be able to enter, but not get a complete or correct screen.
Remedy: This is often due to your video card not being able to cope with our color settings. To fix this, go to Start button on the desktop, open Settings and then Control Panel, and then select Display. In the Display Properties dialog box, select the Settings tab and choose the 256 colors option in the drop down menu. Click the OK button and then reboot.

Problem: You install a new launcher plug-in and then cannot enter SeduCity.
Remedy: As with many applications, download plug-ins such as Getright, often inadvertently reassign files. You will need to uninstall the plug-in and then reboot.

Problem: You install an unauthorized SeduCity plug-in that you may have learned about from another SeduCity member. Once installed, you can enter but some functions no longer work.
Remedy: Don’t install unauthorized SeduCity plug-ins. You will need to uninstall the plug-in, reinstall the SeduCity client software and then reboot.


Billing and Account FAQ's

Q. How can I pay for my subscription?

A. The preferred process is by credit card or debit card. For quick access to new accounts, use our credit card system on the regular sign-up page.



Q. Can I pay my subscription by check or money order?

A. You can no longer pay by check or money order. You can however pay using Western Union. For details, click here.


Q. When does the charge hit my credit card or debit card account?

A. Your credit card or debit card is immediately charged when your subscription starts. For renewals, we take the funds on the last day of your current subscription.



Q. How and when can I cancel my account?

A. You can cancel your account at any time, just go to: www.seducity.com, sign on to your account and select the ACCOUNTING option. You will be taken to a page where you can make changes to your account.
PLEASE NOTE: When you cancel your account, the change goes into affect at the end of your current subscription. YOU WILL BE BILLED FOR YOUR CURRENT SUBSCRIPTION.

NOTE: Customers who pay by Western Union cannot use the accounting function to cancel. Please go to the Support Form to notify our support group.

Q. How do I change the credit card or debit card I’m using?

A. You can change the credit card or debit card you’re using at any time by going to: www.seducity.com, sign on to your account and select the ACCOUNTING option. You will be taken to a page where you can make changes to your account.


Q. How can I change my password?

A. You can change your password at any time by going to: www.seducity.com, sign on to your account and select the ACCOUNTING option. You will be taken to a page where you can make changes to your account.


Q. How can I create a second account?

A. You can create as many accounts as you wish. However, we limit the number of accounts that can be created on one credit card or debit card to three. To subscribe, click here.


Q. When do account changes take place?

A. Changes are immediate.


Q. Can deleted accounts be reactivated?

A. Deleted accounts can be reactivated but there will be NO AVATARS on the account. Please go to the Support Form to notify our support group.


Q: Can cancelled accounts be reactivated?

A. Cancelled accounts can be reactivated up to 90 days. Please go to the Support Form to notify our support group.

General FAQs

Minimum Requirements:

Required: Pentium 133, 32MB RAM, Windows 95, 14.4 Modem

Suggested: Pentium 200, 64MB RAM, Windows 95, or better. Modem: 14.4 or greater.


Characters in names:

If you have symbols such as "@" or "£" in your name may have problems sending or receiving ESP. As an example, if you send ESP to somebody with the cents-sign symbol, the server does not think the avatar is inworld and redirects the message to ESP mail. This is rather annoying, but the avatar can still receive the message. Those trying to type in a name with special characters may not be able to duplicate the character easily.

What is a Virtual World?

Our technology allows members from around the world to create their own on-line personas -- called avatars -- and become part of a thriving online virtual community. You can communicate with other avatars in an extensive, populated, and colorful world after downloading and installing the our client software. Members are able to personalize their avatars by choosing among various body styles, hundreds of heads, clothes (upper and lower body sprays), and an endless variety of accessories. Your avatar is your online representation: you can be "YOU" inworld or you can create a completely new persona. However you present yourself - and what part you play in the community - is up to you!

SeduCity has streets, buildings, parks, and private spaces. The citizens of these virtual communities, each represented by an individual person, spend time in the virtual spaces connecting with others, socializing and shopping, entertaining friends, and taking part in social activities that include events, games, sharing web pages, language lessons, treasure hunts, holiday activities, and virtual weddings.


What is an avatar?

An avatar is an electronic representation of a real person, and each person controls an avatar within SeduCity. These avatars are customizable, graphical and animated characters. They provide people with a wide range of self-expression than is not found in text chat rooms or other online environments, and help encourage a deeper level of real-time interaction between people. Each avatar is able to do six gestures and six expressions.


What makes SeduCity different from online chat services?

Most people find SeduCity an easy, non-threatening way to meet new people. Newcomers are welcomed into conversations within minutes of entering the world, making it more inviting than text chat on the Internet or online services. This may be one reason why women are so attracted to SeduCity. Over fifty percent of members are women-- a proportion far higher than the average online service.

SeduCity boasts an extremely strong community. Dreamscape members have created their own ceremonies, newspapers, and holidays. They have built a vibrant token-based economy. Members can choose from a wide range of daily activities, from simply meeting people and building friendships, to attending parties and events, playing games, creating art, and shopping for objects.

In a chat room, text is the only means of expression and the only context. In SeduCity, text is just one aspect of a total environment that includes avatar body movements, facial expressions, gestures, objects, and much more. This total environment provides a depth and quality of social exchange and creativity that is much more meaningful than text chat room experiences. For example, an avatar can walk away from people they don't like, smile at their friends, and wave at new people they want to greet.


How does the SeduCity software integrate with a Web browser?

Unlike software dependent on VRML technology, SeduCity is a proven, stable software system that runs effectively on low-end Macintosh and Windows systems. It functions as a helper application with standard Web browsers, providing two windows on the user's screen: one for the virtual world and the other for the Web browser. In addition, any object or avatar in a virtual world can have URL links associated with it. SeduCity servers can also automatically load URLs on a user's browser upon entry into a specific area, as a result of a specific avatar action, or based on a member's registration data.


What are the key features of our avatars and virtual world?

Our innovative features were designed specifically to foster expressive person-to-person interaction, which in turn supports the formation of a cohesive community.


Unique Identities: Through customizable avatars, SeduCity technology makes it easy to create and support an infinite variety of avatars, with different bodies and heads.

Non-Verbal Communication: Avatars are visual, colorful, and animated, delivering a whole new dimension to the online experience. Each avatar has four different facial expressions, five gestures, and three styles of movement.

Third Person Viewpoint: Unlike virtual world systems utilizing VRML, SeduCity allows people to see themselves in the same physical space as those they are interacting with, making communication easier and contributing to a stronger feeling of belonging.

Virtual Objects: SeduCity enables a wide variety of objects that people can obtain and own within a virtual world. Objects enhance an avatar's identity and add realism to the overall experience.

Internal Economy: There is a token system in place where each avatar accumulates for each hour spent per session. SeduCity allows for a thriving internal economy in which members can buy and sell virtual objects with the tokens they earn.

Persistent Sense of Place: Each time an avatar logs into SeduCity, they enter in exactly the same place they logged off. The persistence of all elements mentioned above creates a strong sense of continuity for the user from visit to visit. As in real life, persistence and continuity help bond people together, which in turn creates community.


Quick glossary of SeduCity Terms:

Avatar - the technical name of your on-line persona.

Citizens - volunteer avatars who serves the SeduCity community. You can page Citizens for in-world help.

Token - the inworld currency. You earn tokens with time spent in SeduCity. Currently it's 100 tokens per hour (up to 5 hours per session) for time spent as an avatar. They are paid out every hour of online time completed. Check your nearest ATM for your account balance.

World Managers - Manage all aspects of inworld needs.

SysOp - System Operator. A SysOp oversees the community's message boards. SysOps have no jurisdiction inworld but can help you with technical problems you may encounter while inworld. SysOps are "remote staff" who are volunteers from around the world.

Client - the technical name for your SeduCity software that is installed on your personal computer. It's a "client" of the SeduCity "server."

Server - the technical name of the machine that runs the codes and scripts to display SeduCity. It communicates to all the clients logged into it. When you Enter SeduCity, you're logging into the SeduCity server.

Waking World or Real World where we all live when not in SeduCity.

SCT - is the same as the Pacific Time Zone. Many events in the zones are announced in "SCT."
